Alloy steel is commonly selected for fasteners that require higher strength after controlled heat treatment. Like plain carbon steel it has no inherent corrosion resistance and relies on a protective finish. Alloying and heat treatment can support higher property classes such as 10.9 or 12.9, but the actual class and test evidence are confirmed per order. Highly loaded joints in machinery, automotive and structural connections that specify 10.9 or 12.9. Magnetic. It is not a substitute for stainless where corrosion resistance is the requirement. The table below is controlled selection guidance, not a claim that every listed grade is supplied. Confirm the exact material, grade and mechanical requirements in the quotation.
